Midway Checkup: Queen Mum

Midway Checkup is a feature on my blog where I post around halfway through the novel I'm currently reading. It provides me with the chance to give my opinion so far, predict what I think will happen, and write about my overall impressions.
Queen Mum was a total random buy for me, so I wasn't sure if it was any good. The book was supposed to be about these two families that live across from one another. One of the mothers signs up for "Queen Mum", a reality TV show where two random families switch mothers for two weeks. I was under the impression that this would take up most of the book, and it would essentially be about how their lives changed because of this TV show. Well, I was quite surprised when this didn't prove to be the case!

The "Queen Mum" show only took up about 50 or so pages, and wasn't the main focus at all. This makes curious as to what the rest of the book will be about, so I'm trying to advance in the story whenever I get the chance to read. Other than the plot, I find the writing to be a bit bland but does occasionally have a little blurb of eloquence and descriptive language. Strangely enough, though, Queen Mum is quite addictive and keeps me wanting to read. We'll see how the rest of the novel turns out!

Keep an eye out for the review which will be posted once I finish reading. That should be within the next few days.

oooh I love addictive books... I usually end up staying up all night to finish when that happens, haha. Glad you seem to be enjoying this one, even if it's not quite what you expected!
